Bandhavgarh, established in 1968 as a National Park, is spread over vast stretches of grassland, sal forest and hills covering an area of over 400 square kilometres. It has one of the highest densities of tigers in the world. Arrive Jabalpur Airport early morning and drive to Bandhavgarh National Park. After a relaxing lunch we will take a nature walk to acclimatise ourselves to the surroundings.

Day 03 - 04 : Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is famous for its Jungle Safaris. We will use openi Jeeps with front facing elevated seats to enhance your viewing opportunities. The park allows entry only after sunrise (between 5am and 6am) while the evening safari begins at 3 pm and runs until 6pm. Today and tomorrow we will be taking full advantage of both morning and evening jeep safaris.

India has an amazing variety of bird life. This morning you will have the opportunity to learn more by taking a morning bird walk with the in house naturalist before breakfast. Later, we drive to Kanha. This is the original Kipling country so fondly written about in his Jungle Book. The park is the only home to the rare hard ground Barasingha deer found in its large grasslands. Kanha is also home to Tiger, Leopard, Sloth Bear, deer, ungulates, lesser cats and over 250 bird species.

Day 06 - 07 : Kanha National Park

Kanha Tiger Reserve's spectacular Sal and Bamboo forest, rolling grasslands and meandering streams stretch into the wild heart of India's central highlands. As in Bandhavgarh, we will be taking advantage of both morning and evening Jeep safaris within the park.

Day 08 : Kanha to Satpura National Park

Satpura is the gem in the crown of our journey into the Wild Heart of India! There are many ways to explore this unique wildlife zone; jeeps, boats, elephants and walking that bring us into close contact with the flora and fauna of Satpura.

Today is a travel day where we will transfer to Jabalpur to take the intercity train to Pipariya where we will take a short trip to a unique backwater lodge located on the edge of the mesmerising backwaters of the Denwa River. Across the river is the National Park surrounded by a ring of mountains from which the park takes its name. Satpura is a Sanskrit word, that means seven mountains (sapta=seven;pura=mountain).

Day 09 : Satpura National Park

Most of the Satpura range was heavily forested, but the area has been subject to gradual deforestation in recent decades although significant stands of forest remain. These forest enclaves provide habitat to several at risk and endangered species, including the Tiger. Satpura is home to many varieties of wildlife including Spotted Dear, Indian Bison, Tigers, Leopards, Wild boar, Wild dog (locally called Dholes), Sloth bear, Black buck, Porcupine, Sambhar, Four Horned antelopes, Otters, Crocodile, Malabar squirrels, Langurs etc. Continuing our journey to the wild heart of India, we take a morning Jeep Ride in the National Park. Afternoon, we will do a Walking Safari inside the National Park.

Day 10 : Satpura National Park)

The terrain of the national park is extremely rugged and consists of fascinating deep valleys, sandstone peaks, narrow gorges, rivulets, waterfalls, thick dense green forest of Sal and other medicinal herbs as well as large tracts of teak forest. So that we have a comprehensive experience of this unique wild life area, we take an early morning elephant safari before returning to the lodge for breakfast. In the afternoon we have an opportunity to visit a local tribal village. Tonight we have an early dinner before taking an exciting night safari in the buffer zone of the park.
